A garden can be an exciting way to be more self-sufficient as you grow your own fruits and vegetables. However, it can also be difficult work and a little less productive than planned if you don’t know the right place to start.

What Gardening Equipment Do You Need to Start a Garden?

Here is some gardening equipment you’ll need to start your garden:

  • Sod cutter: One of the first things you will need to do to start a garden is clear out the plot of land you plan to make your garden. If you have a beautiful lawn with grass that you would rather save and plant elsewhere, you can use a sod cutter to cleanly remove the grass with the roots still intact.
  • Wheelbarrow: This is a key piece of gardening equipment you will want as you start your garden. Starting a garden from scratch is messy work. You can use a wheelbarrow to hold and transport any dirt you dig up or mulch that you need to place in the garden.
  • Trowel: This is a smaller tool, but still just as necessary. You will need your gardening trowel to dig up any weeds that could hinder the growth of your garden, break up any clumps as you mix the soil, and dig holes to plant your seeds.
  • Auger: Another key to starting a garden is having something in place to protect it from hungry animals and pests. You can use an auger to put the necessary holes in the ground for placing a protective fence around your garden.

Starting a garden is a lot of work and requires a good amount of equipment that might just collect dust for most of the year in your storage shed. It doesn’t have to be that way if you choose to rent gardening equipment from us instead at Eagle Rentals. Give us a call if you would like to learn more.
